Ogenyi Onazi doubtful for Nigeria’s upcoming matches

Ogenyi Onazi is a major doubt for Nigeria’s upcoming matches after suffering a knock while playing for Turkish side Trabzonspor on Saturday.

The Nigeria international succumbed to a groin injury in Trabzonspor’s 0-0 Super Lig draw away to Kayserispor early on Saturday afternoon.

Onazi was replaced in the 41st minute of the match by Jose Sousa and is now set to undergo further medical tests to determined the nature and severity of his injury.

This puts the 24-year-old midfielder in major doubt for Nigeria’s final 2018 World Cup qualifier away to Algerian on November 10, as well as the friendly against Argentina four days later.

Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr will already have to cope without Odion Ighalo and Victor Moses, while John Ogu, Leon Balogun and Moses Simon are all doubtful.
