Odey: I’m After NPFL Title, Not Udoh’s Goals Record

Published on: 17 July 2017

Mountain of Fire and Miracles FC striker Stephen Odey admits that he is not under pressure to deliver the goals that will see him equal or surpass the record feat achieved by Enyimba's Mfon Udoh in the 2013/2014 season in the current campaign, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Odey scored his 17th Nigeria Professional Football League goal on Sunday in MFM's 1-0 win against Wikki Tourists at the Agege stadium, Lagos which sees him just six goals shy of the 23 achieved by the Enyimba star.

"I'm happy by my goals so far. However the team's objective is to win the league title," Odey told Completesportsnigeria com on Monday.

"No, I'm not under pressure to surpass Mfon's record of 23 goals. It is what I do and I will try and do more of my hard work.

"I score the goals but I also assist others to do the same when they are in good positions.

"Let's see how it goes but one thing is certain: the team is more important than personal glory."

MFM are now second in the table with 49 points,  two adrift of Plateau United who lost 0-1 to Niger Tornadoes in Minna.
