The 16 teams participating in the 2017/18 Nigeria Women Premier League (NWPL) have complied with the league body directive to pay for their team’s registration fee duly on Monday, March 19, 2018.
The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) had set Monday, March 19, 2018 as deadline for the payment of registration fee for clubs interested in taking part in the top-flight.
The NWFL equally set as timeline the collection of licences to end on or before Friday, March 30.
The NWPL season is scheduled to kick-off on Saturday, April 07, 2018 with the star match to hold in Lafia, Nasarawa state between champions, Nasarawa Amazons and FC Robo Queens at the Lafia Township Stadium.
The NWFL Chief Operating Officer (COO), Ayo Abdulrahman confirmed joyfully on Wednesday that all the 16 teams in the top-flight met the deadline of Monday, March 19 for the payment of registration fee for their respective clubs.
“Yes, the 16 teams have paid their registration fees as at Monday, March 19 which the league body set as deadline.
“Right now they are turning in their registration forms to enable us move fast to commence and complete documentation.
“Of course, we do not have the luxury of time any more as the league season is billed to kick-off on Saturday, April 07, 2018 with the star match holding between champions, Nasarawa Amazons and FC Robo Queens in Lafia.
“Deadline for the collection of licences still remains Friday, March 30.
“We are working round the clock to ensure a smooth take off of the league on the agreed date,” said Abdulrahman.
The season will be abridged on two formats of eight teams each. Group A includes Edo Queens, Confluence Queens, Delta Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Rivers Angels and two newcomers, Sure Babes and FC Taraba Queens while Group B is made up of champions, Nasarawa Amazons, Adamawa Queens, FC Robo Queens, Sunshine Queens, Pelican Stars, Osun Babes, Abia Angels and newcomers, Jokodolu Babes.
The NWFL is conducting a one-day seminar on Thursday, March 22, 2018 in Abuja for the good of the game.
The first theme of the seminar is ‘Club Management Strategy’ and the catchment audience is the club chairmen, team managers, coaches, players, management, among others while the second one is tagged ‘Fifa/Caf Connect’ aimed at enrolling the entire player’s data into the platform as to tract player’s movement and every other thing concerning the players.
The NWFL COO, Abdulrahman said the seminar is free aimed at bringing everybody on same page towards the growth and development of the game.
