Defending champions, Rangers International of Enugu showed signs of remaining on the NPFL, when they recorded a draw at Niger Tornadoes in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match day 25 at Lokoja.

But NPFL leaders, Plateau United, fell 2-1 at Abia Warriors, while Wikki Tourists also recorded an away draw against FC Ifeanyi Ubah.

Shedrack Asiegbu gave home team, Abia Warriors, an early lead against Plateau, who did well to draw level before Asiegbu slotted home the winner from the penalty spot late in the encounter.

Despite the loss, Plateau United still stay top on 45 points from 25 matches, five points clear of second-placed El Kanemi Warriors.

The league’s leading scorer, Stephen Odey drew MFM FC level on 58 minutes at Kano Pillars, who went on to win 3-1 at home with goals from skipper Rabiu Ali, Adamu Mohammed and substitute Amos Gyang.

Alhassan Ibrahim ‘Muazzam’ scored his 11th goal of the season, courtesy of an early penalty goal for Akwa United against Katsina United with Musa Newman doubling the home team’s advantage also in the first half.

El Kanemi Warriors bounced back from a 3-0 loss at Katsina United to beat Remo Stars 2-0 in Maiduguri, pushing the Oshogbo side to return to rock bottom of the table on 26 points.

Struggling Shooting Stars outscored ABS 2-0, just as Sunshine Stars put behind them their woes with a 2-1 win over visiting Gombe United, who are now second from bottom with 27 points.
