NPFL Review: Seka's strike lifts FC Ifeanyiubah to fifth after 1-0 win against Solid Miners

????????????????????????????????????

Pascal Seka's 18th minute strike was all FC Ifeanyiubah needed to see off Nasarawa United in a Matchday 33 fixture in the Nigeria Professional Football League at the FC Ifeanyiubah Stadium, Nnewi.

Seka's effort unarguably was the key moment of the first half, in a game the visitors ensured FC Ifeanyiubah goalkeeper Uche Okafor was on holidays and Bright Onyedikachi a constant threat.

FC Ifeanyiubah's first half dominance
It took just four minutes for the hosts to begin asking questions. Onyedikachi latched onto Isaac Loute's brilliant pass, skipped past his marker, before driving low to the path of the visiting goalkeeper, Danlami Umar, who gathered easily.

The early pressure paid off in the 18th minute, when Seka benefited from a void in the Solid Miners' backline to put the ball behind Danlami for the opener.

Onyedikachi's overwhelming influence
A constant threat to Nasarawa United's defence, Onyedikachi had a hand in most of the moves made by the home side in the final third.

His plucky moves within the visitors' box, saw Seun Sogbeso and Jide Williams worked their socks off to ensure the tally was not increased.

In a bid to checkmate Onyedikachi's Influence, Emmanuel Makama and Douglas Achiv got into the referee's book on separate occasions before the half hour mark.

Five minutes to the break, Danlami needed to be at his best to keep out the winger from doubling his side's advantage.

Nasarawa United's resurgence
FC Ifeanyiubah continued their quest for goals in the second half, hoping to push Kabiru Dogo's men further deep, as the case was in the opening half.

John Huan's strike 30 yards out, in the 47th minute, seemed their last for about quarter of an hour, as the visitors' reversed the order and pushed for an equalizer.

At the hour mark, their effort almost paid off, when Achiv's pile driver from 35 yards rattled Uche Okafor, who recovered quickly to deny the Lafia side what would have been a leveller.

Despite the introduction of last season's top scorer, Godwin Obaje, the home side could not get a second goal, as they held on for the win.

The win elevates FC Ifeanyiubah to fifth position on the log, following El-Kanemi's defeat away to Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja.
