NPFL Review : Plateau United maintains lead after a narrow home win

Published on: 30 June 2017

League leaders, Plateau United, maintained a wide 5 points lead on the log of the N PFL, after the close of Match day 26 amidst pressure from MFM, Enyimba and Akwa United.

Enyimba were truly at home mid week, when they spanked title chasers El Kanemi Warriors 4-0, courtesy of a hat-trick from Chinonso Okonkwo to move into the third place on the NPFL table.

However, leaders Plateau united and second-placed MFM FC consolidated their places in the standings with narrow home wins.

The table could however change at the end of Week 27 (this weekend) as most of the top clubs will be facing each other in a fixture that could decide their fates.

While 4th placed El-Kanemi will seek to bounce back to the top three when they host table toppers, Plateau United in Maiduguri, second placed MFM will seek to consolidate with a win over troubled ABS at the Agege stadium.

Enyimba will square up against fast improved Akwa United in a game that will leave a lot to desire, considering the neck-to-neck position of the two clubs, while FC Ifeanyi Ubah will also seek to bounce back to the top four as they try to overrun middle placed katsina United at the Ifeanyi Ubah International stadium in Nnewi/Ozubulu
