Stephen Alfred’s 10th minute long range strike was enough to secure Kwara United all points in a Matchday 6 encounter in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) against Lobi Stars played at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin on Thursday.

It was the second win for John Obuh’s side in the top-flight since they made their return from second tier football this term.

The home team started the game on a good note, and would have increased the tally after Alfred’s goal, but Michael Ohanu was unable to put the ball in the back of the net with only Lobi goalkeeper Olufemi Kayode to beat.

Lobi Stars rallied only on ocassional forays, but goalkeeper Godwin Ayalogu was at his best throughout the game.

Kwara United made efforts to at least add to the tally, but the resilient Lobi Stars defence, who rose to the occasion immediately after conceding the goal, held their line well till full time.
