NPFL Review: Enyimba Hold Heartland In Owerri

Published on: 13 June 2018

Enyimba moved to fourth position in the Nigeria Professional Football League after they were held to a 0-0 draw by oriental rivals, Heartland in a rescheduled match day 22 encounter at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri on Wednesday.

Both clubs wasted a number of chances in the game with Fortune Omoniwari and Uche Oguchi missing begging chances for Heartland.

Gueira Jean Marie and Joseph Osadiaye came close to breaking the deadlock for Enyimba who also have goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai to thank for making a number of vital saves in the game.

Heartland’s Omoniwari had the ball in the back of the net in the 52nd minute but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Enyimba have now garnered 38 points, five adrift of league leaders Lobi Stars who have 43 points.

Heartland remain in the last position in the table and look set for a return to the Bet9ja Nigeria National League.
