NPFL Preview: Lokosa Guns For 15th Goal As Pillars Face Wikki In Jos; Tornadoes Host Rangers

All eyes will be on Kano Pillars new scoring sensation Junior Lokosa when the team file out against northern rivals, Wikki Tourists, in a Nigeria Professional Football League matchday-16 encounter at the New Jos Stadium on Sunday.

Lokosa has hogged the headlines in the NPFL this season for his goal poaching ability. His scored a brace on against FC Ifeanyiubah on Wednesday which increased his haul to 14 goals in 14 appearances.

The 24-year-old will look to increase the tally against Wikki Tourists as he continues to chase Mfon Udoh’s all time record of 23 goals in a single season in the NPFL.

Also, Pillars who are second in the table with 24 points, three adrift of log leaders Lobi Stars will need to avoid defeat in the game to keep up pace with the Makurdi club.

Lobi Stars will entertain struggling El-Kanemi Warriors at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi and look good to extend their fine run after the midweek 1-1 away draw against Abia Warriors.

Fourth placed Enugu Rangers face a tricky away trip to Minna where they will be guests of Niger Tornadoes.

The Flying Antelopes were in ruthless mood in midweek thrashing Yobe Desert Stars 3-0 at the Cathedral and will be keen to keep up pace with the frontrunners with another win.

The Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri will host the oriental derby fixture between Heartland and Abia Warriors.

I8th placed Heartland are finding life on their return to the top flight a bit tough but still harbour hopes of escaping the drop.

Sunshine Stars, who are one of the most consistent side in the NPFL in recent seasons occupy 17th position in the table and need a big boost after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Kwara United in Akure on Wednesday.
