NPFL Preview: Heartland Defender Okpus Eyes win against Akwa Utd

Heartland right back, Brownbraye Okpus has dramatically tagged as ‘winning winning’ the top-flight clash against visiting side, Akwa United.

The Naze Millionaires will host the Promise Keepers in Saturday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 24 clash at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Okpus said his teammates have sworn to win the clash to revive their survival fight in the on-going Nigerian top-flight.

“We are fully prepared and ready for the clash against Akwa United on Saturday in Owerri. I have gone ahead to tagged the encounter as ‘winning winning’ to underscore our resolve to amass the whole three points at stake in the match.

“It’s sure not going to be easy as some of our former players in Akwa United colours will come out strongly to make some statements but we will not allow them the luxury.

“Akwa United won the first fixture clash in Uyo when they were almost in same sorry situation we are right now and thereafter things have changed for the better for them so it will be our turn to turn things around positively for ourselves with a convincing win.

“The clash is a revival game for us as far as the on-going top-flight is concerned and we will not joke with the rare opportunity.

“I believe a win today (Saturday) will speedily boost our confidence going forward as well as help us to return to winning way again,” said the former Nembe City strongman to supersport.com.

The 2009 Caf Champions League finalists are on the bottom four on the log on poorly 23 points from 22 matches in the 23-week old top-flight.
