NPFL Preview: Ashadi Targets Home Win Against FC Ifeanyi Ubah

Published on: 16 February 2018

Katsina United’s Destiny Ashadi says his teammates are buoyed by their victory over FC Ifeanyiubah last season and are excitedly waiting for the weekend league fixture to confirm their supremacy once more.

The Chanji Boys were in their debut campaign last season when they shocked Yaw Preko’s men 1-0 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium and Ashadi who was among the players pivotal for the famous win is gushing over the prospect of repeating the feat again on Sunday.

“It was a good win for us before our fans. They thought they could beat us but we showed them that we were better. I still recalled vividly the build up to the encounter and how our intention to remain in the topflight was paramount to us. We went into the tie needing to win to confirm our intention and it all went well after the 90 minutes,” Ashadi told Goal.

“We still have most of our players for that game still intact and the new additions that have been made have really strengthened us. If we managed to beat them with what we had last season, I believe it should be easier to beat them this term with the players we have around.

“We just want to get to the pitch and show FC Ifeanyiubah what we can do. We need the points badly as a result of the draw we had with Kano Pillars in the opening fixture of the season. All points matter now.”

Katsina United are 10th in the league table with 10 points from eight matches, and cannot afford to falter against Ladan Bosso’s men with only a point separating them from the relegation zone.
