The Hammers have been rebuffed in their advances for the left-back after the Canaries refused to entertain their fee. It now remains to be seen if West Ham will return with an improved offer for Olsson.
Olsson has been a mainstay in Norwich's starting eleven ever since a £2.5m switch from Blackburn Rovers in July 2013.
The 28-year-old has amassed over 100 appearances for the East Anglian outfit and endured a topsy turvy period at the club. Olsson was part of the Norwich side that suffered relegation from the Premier League during the 2013/14 season, but helped his side back into England's top flight the following campaign.
However, the Sweden international couldn't help prevent a second relegation in three seasons as Alex Neil's men bounced back into the Championship after finishing 19th in the 2015/16 league standings.
West Ham have been keen to bolster their options at left-back after Aaron Cresswell injured his knee during a pre-season friendly against Austrian side Karlsruher.
The 26-year-old, who sparkled for West Ham last season, is expected to be "?out of action for at least four months due to the nature of the injury.
Speculation had linked West Ham with a loan deal for Manchester United's Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, while Hull City's Andrew Robertson is another option available to Hammers boss Slaven Bilic.
The Croatian did make a £7m offer for Robertson on Friday but, like Olsson, saw his bid snubbed by the manager-less Tigers.
Bilic has already been active in the 2016/17 summer transfer window, bringing in no fewer than seven new arrivals to the Olympic Stadium.
Manuel Lanzini, who spent last season on loan at West Ham, completed a £9.5m permanent move to London earlier in the summer.
The attacking midfielder has been joined by Toni Martinez, Sofiane Feghouli, Ashley Fletcher, Havard Nordtveit, Domingos Quina, as well as loanee Gokhan Tore, since the window opened.
