Nigerian winger dreaming of wearing same shirt as his idol Thierry Henry

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal are ‘in talks’ with 19-year-old KAS Eupen starlet, Onyekuru, who almost a year ago declared his love for the Gunners in an interview.

Everton, Southampton, West Brom and Crystal Palace are all said to be after the talented winger, who’s scored 12 goals in 28 appearances in the Belgian league this season. However, considering the fact that Thierry Henry is his role model, if Arsenal really are interested, it’s pretty predictable who he’ll choose.

“I hope to find myself one day in a top club in Europe and to play for my national team,” he said in August 2016.

“The shirt I dream of wearing is Arsenal’s because I’ve always had Thierry Henry as a role model since I was little.”

Apparently, the talks are ‘progressing well’ and Arsenal are willing to pay KAS Eupen’s £6.8m release fee.

Onyekuru is currently with the Nigerian national squad after receiving his first call-up.
