Nigerian Striker Onyekwuru On Target again as Eupen win

Published on: 26 February 2017

Henry Onyekwuru has returned to the good habit of putting the ball in the back of the net for Belgian club AS Eupen.

The attacker scored the winner as Eupen overcame Lokeren 2-1 on Saturday as the Jupiler Pro League entered matchday 25.

Onyekwuru, who was the subject of intense transfer speculations during the January transfer window, showed he has lost no aspect of his goalscoring touch with a brilliant goal, 10 minutes from time in front of 6,322 supporters at Daknamstadion.

The Nigerian attacker was at the end of a sweeping counter-attacking move by Eupen as he nonchalantly chipped past the Lokeren goalkeeper, Boubacar Barry, from 16 yards to seal an important win.

The win lifts Eupen to 11th on the log with 30 points from 28 matches.

Onyekwuru has now scored 12 league goals and 14 in all competitions for Eupen this season.
