Nigerian Forward Lawal On Target for Kayserispor

Raheem Lawal scored his first goal for Turkish club Kayserispor on Friday night as his side romped to a 4-2 win over Rizespor in the Super Lig.

Lawal struck on the quarter-hour mark to level the scores at Yeni Rize Sehir Stadi after Leonard Kweuke had put the hosts in front in the fifth minute following an assist from Nigerian midfielder Nosakhare Igiebor.

Lawal’s goal was down to a combination of poor defending by the Rizespor defenders and cold-blooded instincts on his part.

His teammate, Denis Türüç, provided an inch-perfect cross from the near side and with the Rizespor rear guard which included a Nigerian, Godfrey Oboabona, failing to pick him out, Lawal planted an emphatic header past goalkeeper Abdoulaye Diallo.

A fourth Nigerian, Bright Edomwonyi, (on the books of Rizespor) was also in action in the game.

Lawal was eventually substituted in the 69th minute with Samba Sow taking his place.

Friday’s effort was Lawal’s first goal in five league matches for Kayserispor.
