Nigeria Battle Sudan in the Semi Final in Marrakesh Friday

The Super Eagles team B have will be battling Sudan in the semi final of the ongoing 2018 CHAN competition after coming from a goal down to beat Angola 2-1 in the Quarter Finals played on Sunday in Tanger.

Eagles had lots of chances they should have utilized in the first twenty minutes, but they could not find the back of the net.

Nigeria goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa even had many saves as the Enyimba goalkeeper denied the Angolans from scoring.

The first half however ended goalless as both teams failed to record any goal in the tension soaked encounter.

Angola changed their pattern of play in the second half, and it paid off for them in the 56th minute when Vladimiro Antonio scored a fantastic goal for them in the 56th minute.

Antonio benefited from a defensive gaffe by Super Eagles defender Timothy Danladi who failed to clear the ball in the 18 yard box.

But Nigeria restored parity at the death through Anthony Okpotu who fired in an impressive assist from Faleye to force the game into extra time.

Gabriel Okechukwu was the hero for the Super Eagles as he scored the winning goal for Nigeria in the 109th minute as the match ended 2-1 in favor of Salisu Yusuf’s men.

Speaking with SportsDay after the victory, Coach Salisu Yusuf expressed joy over the late victory stating that,” It is not an easy game for us but I thank God and I praise my boys for keeping their heads high throughout the 120minutes.

“We never underrated Angolian because we know their strength and how good they are to have come this far in the tournament.

“You don’t give up in a game when the referee has not ended the game. In fottball anything can happen and that what we saw today against Angola but I still appreciate my boys for a job well-done,” Yusuf said
