The Nigeria Football Federation has revealed plans to arrange friendly matches against Senegal and Ivory Coast for the Super Eagles ahead of their 2018 World Cup qualifying double-header against Cameroon next year.
Nigeria will welcome Cameroon on August 28, 2017 before playing the reverse fixture against the Indomitable Lions four days later in the Central African country.
“Ivory Coast and Senegal are teams who play like Cameroon, and we are priming for our next (World Cup) game against Cameroon,” Pinnick was quoted as saying yesterday.
“These friendlies are not yet confirmed but they are at an advanced stage of being finalised.”
It is understood that the matches against the West African teams could be played during FIFA window in March in London.
Pinnick confirmed the scheduled friendly against Egypt in Dubai on January 9 had been called off.
He said the NFF opted out of the fixture because the body could not meet some of the conditions given by the organisers for the clash. The NFF was to ensure that the country’s top Europe-based players feature in the game.
