Newcastle Reported to Have Triggered £4.5m Release Clause for Hull Star Mohamed Diame

"?Newcastle United are reported to have triggered the release clause of Hull City midfielder Mohamed Diame as the Magpies continue to be busy in the transfer market this summer to ensure that their stay in the Championship is a brief one.

Signed from West Ham in September 2014, the former Wigan powerhouse was sidelined with injury throughout most of Hull's 2014/15 campaign. He returned to action last season and was the star of the show in the second tier, scoring nine goals in 38 league appearances from midfield.


Diame then also netted a stunning winner in the playoff final victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley in May to restore the Tigers' status as a top flight club.


However, with the continued uncertainty at Hull following the shock recent departure of Steve Bruce just a couple of weeks before the new season is due to kick-off, combined with what will be on offer at St James' Park, the proposition to leave, even dropping down a division, could be a very tempting one indeed.
