Nasarawa United defender Nweke Set for FC Porto Trials
Top Portuguese club FC Porto are to run the rule over Nasarawa United defender Ifeanyi Nweke this summer, the player’s agent informed AfricanFootball.com
Nweke impressed Porto scouts during a talent discovery program held in Abuja a couple of months ago, and the Portuguese club have since invited him to train with them with a view to agreeing a deal.
He is expected to travel to Portugal in July, when he will train with the Porto squad ahead of the 2016/17 Portuguese season and will sign a deal if he impressed.
The 18-year-old is naturally a center-back, but has been playing as a right-back for Nasarawa United in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
He was a member of the Nigerian U20 set of 2015, but missed out on both the 2015 U20 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup.
If he eventually signed, he will be the third Nigerian player at Porto, with Chidera Ezeh and Chidozie Awaziem already with the former European champions.
