Ghana striker Dominic Oduro opened the scoring in Montreal Impact’s 3-2 win over New York City FC on Saturday.

Oduro’s goal was in the fifth minute when got on the end of Laurent Ciman’s long ball and slipped it through NYCFC goalkeeper Josh Saunders’ legs before tapping it home.

Ignacio Piatti made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute with a chip shot finish from another long ball.

David Villa closed NYCFC’s deficit to 2-1 on a penalty kick.

The Impact restored their two-goal lead thanks to Piatti’s penalty kick in the 84th minute, and Thomas McNamara quickly answered for NYCFC a minute later.

Former Chelsea star Frank Lampard made his debut for New York City FC as a 69th minute substitute.

Elsewhere, former Ghana youth midfielder Gershon Koffie last the entire duration as Vancouver Whitecaps travelled to Seattle to thrash Sounders 3-0 on Saturday night.
