Vancouver's match against LAFC was the first time they had heard their fans' voices reverberating through their home confines in 539 days. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic's cross-border travel problems, they'd already established a home away from home at Real Salt Lake's Rio Tinto Stadium.

“I felt chills as soon as I walked out for warmups,” Raposo said. “We've grown so used to playing abroad that we've forgotten what it's like to be at home.”

The Whitecaps rewarded their supporters with a spirited 2-1 win after playing 31 straight games away from BC Place. It was Vancouver's second consecutive win – and their first of the season – as they extended their undefeated streak to a club-record-tying eight games.
