Mikel: We Must Improve But We Showed Our Quality Vs England

Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi believes his side can take encouragement from their performance in the second half against England on Saturday.

The Nigerian side lost 2-1 to the Three Lions at Wembley but Mikel has taken some positives from the match.

“We still have a lot to do, we have a lot to improve on,” Mikel said at the post-match press conference.

“We need to improve on our communication. When we push up, we need to push up together. But I think in the second half we did a lot better. We played the way we want to play. To have the ball, to keep the ball, and I think it was much better in the second half.”

The team conceded two goals courtesy strikes from Gary Cahill and Harry Kane in the first half before responding with an Alex Iwobi strike after the break.
