Mikel Hails Terry On Retirement From Playing Football

Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has praised his former Chelsea teammate and skipper, John Terry who retired from football after 23 years and wished The Blues’ legend the best in his future endeavour.

Mikel and Terry played together for over a decade at Chelsea winning five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, the Champions League, Europa League and three League Cups with the Blues.

Terry also captained England, making 78 caps for the Three Lions and featured at four major tournaments.

“Congratulations on a fantastic career old boy! Good luck for whatever’s next! #CaptainLeaderLegend,” Mikel tweeted on Monday.

Terry Joined Aston Villa last season and captained the side throughout 2017/2018 season

Terry is now expected to focus on his football club managerial career ambition. Aston Villa owners have reportedly decided to install him as the English Championship club’s assistant manager under new substantive manager Thierry Thierry, who will replace Steven Bruce. The appointments are expected to be officially announced by the club soon

Mikel who was been excluded from Nigeria’s squad to face Libya over two legs in a Africa Cup of Nations qualifier has made scored one in 16 Chinese Super League appearance this season.
