The captain of Nigeria's Olympics football team, John Obi Mikel has said the team's target is to win the Gold medal of the men's football event of the Games.

Mikel, who was speaking at the Post-Match press conference after Nigeria's 2:0 win over Denmark in a quarter final match on Saturday, said the team is focused on achieving its target.

"We are all very excited reaching the semi finals but the ultimate is the gold medal... we are still taking it one match at a time," he said. "My objective here, as with each of the other players, is to win the gold medal."

The team captain who scored Nigeria's first against the Danes, said he was not surprised that the team has been able to come this far, given the quality of playing and coaching personnel.
