Marouane Fellaini Eager to Turn Attentions to EFL Cup Tie After Week to Forget for Manchester United

"?It has been a week to forget for Manchester United after suffering defeats to Manchester City, Feyenoord and Watford, with Marouane Fellaini, an ever present under new manager Jose Mourinho, labelling United's recent lack of form a "crisis."?

Fellaini has been a surprise inclusion under Mourinho, with many pundits initially tipping the 6ft7in Belgian for a summer move away from Old Trafford. Manchester United fans have been particularly disappointed with his inability to form a on-pitch relationship with £90m man Paul Pogba.

The former Everton man is quoted in the Mirror as saying: "We can say it's a little crisis because a club like Manchester United cannot lose three games.

"Yes it's low, but we are men and we must stand up together and show ourselves," said the 28-year-old, who conceded the penalty for Watford's third goal on Sunday.

Manchester United lose 3 games in a week. I'm not sure even Louis Van Gaal managed that achievement.

However, Fellaini was eager to turn attentions to Wednesday's EFL Cup trip to League One outfit Northampton Town.

"To lose was a tough moment, but we must be ready to go again on Wednesday. We need to focus. At the moment heads are down but, as I said, we must stand together and fight and show that we are confident."

Fellaini was quick to note Manchester United inability to start games in a positive fashion as the style of football has been reminiscent of the ultra-conservative style of Louis van Gaal for much of the season.

"At half-time, the manager told us to come out and play with confidence and we did that by grabbing the goal," he said. "We played with tempo and we need to start doing that from the first minute."

Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho was quick to deflect attention from his side's three consecutive defeats - the first time he has suffered such a run since his days as Porto manager in 2003.

"I have this capacity of balance," he told MUTV. "Balance is, for me, not running around the pitch when we were winning a couple of matches and nobody sees now me being too depressed. I'm sad. Obviously, I'm sad but, as I was telling the players, there is only one way.

"At 10.30 in the morning, we have a training session and we have to be there. They have to work, they have to show themselves with a certain kind of attitude towards negative moments.

"I show them, as an example, Ashley Young who was, in my opinion, phenomenal with his attitude, positivity and determination.

"We need positive people to give us a positive feeling because next time these boys are going onto a football pitch, they are going to feel, obviously as normal human beings, the weight of the defeats."
