Manchester City have launched an investigation into a youth scout accused of using racial terminology to describe black players.
Dean Ramsdale, who joined City Football Group as a recruitment manager in June 2017, is alleged to have referred to young black players as "BBQs" -- his acronym for "big, black and quick" -- during a meeting in June.
City received a formal complaint last month and have begun investigating the claim.
"The complaint was immediately raised to the appropriate department and the matter is ongoing," City said in a statement. "Whilst the club cannot comment on the specific case while it is in process, we have a zero-tolerance approach to discrimination of any kind and a disciplinary code of conduct which covers alleged matters of this nature.
"The club strongly condemns discrimination of any kind and actively supports campaigns and initiatives, both internally and externally, where we can use our influence and voice to support the eradication of discrimination from the game."
Ramsdale worked at Burnley, Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday before joining City's management group last year.
