A highly rated Nigerian striker, Christian Obiozor, has been linked with Mamelodi Sundowns, as clubs look to beef up their squads for the 2017/18 season.
Obiozor is a 22-year-old forward who is currently on the books of Enyimba International FC in the Nigeria Premier League. He is a powerful centre-forward in the mould of former Downs’ Nigerian striker, Raphael Chukwu, who was well-known during the days of the ‘Chukwu Train’, many know to cause problems for PSL defenders in the late 1990s.
News coming out of Nigeria is that Obiozor could be coming to South Africa for a trial, with a possible deal on the cards with Sundowns.
The striker has also been linked with clubs in Germany and France for his ability to take on players and a knack for scoring goals.
A source in Nigeria has confirmed to the Siya crew that Sundowns are keen on the player.
“Christian Obiozor will be on his way to South Africa. He is expected to leave Nigeria for South Africa this week. He is a top Nigerian striker. He is from Enyimba International FC. It’s a big club here in Nigeria and all the best players here are with the club.
“Obiozor should be in South Africa for one of the big PSL clubs (confirmed that the club is Sundowns) before the end of the week. He is 22 years old. He is a big boy and he is strong. He is fast and is good with both feet and also with his head,” said the source.
