Mainz Confirm Balogun’s Latest Surgery SV Mainz of Germany have issued a formal statement to confirm that their Nigerian defender, Leon Adeyemi Balogun had to go for surgery last weekend, after suffering a broken wrist during training on Friday.

The German Bundesliga club confirmed on their official Twitter account on Sunday that the Balogun, who on October 20 also had an operation on a broken cheek bone, which he got in a 2-0 defeat by Schalke 04, got a fracture to his left hand on Friday and had to receive surgery.

It means Balogun has returned to the treatment room days after helping the Super Eagles beat South American giants Argentina 4-2 in Krasnodar in Russia on November 14.

The 29-year-old former Fortuna Düsseldorf and SV Darmstadt player also bowed out with injury when he made his Nigeria debut in a friendly game against Mexico in March 2014.

Due to his latest injury, Balogun, who captained Nigeria against Algeria in their last World Cup qualifier, missed Mainz’s league clash against Cologne at Opel Arena on Saturday, but his side won 1-0 in his absence
