Lagos State Football Association in its quest to improve the football ecosystem in the state, have entered into partnership with the management of National Institute For Sports (NIS), to train local football coaches in Lagos State, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Speaking during the event that saw over 50 coaches receive operating licenses, the Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Hajji Gafar Olawale Liameed, explained that the training course to be organised by the NIS, will be for three months, as it would also enable the trained coaches to receive LSFA license to practice their profession in the state.
"The intention of the Lagos FA is to help our football coaches get proper training and of course, from the National Institute For Sports, as this would have positive impact on our football ecosystem".
"This special training programme, would also give opportunities to some of our coaches who are not well read to gain proper and the necessary certification. I can boldly tell you that with our lofty plans, in the next 6 months, we hope to have hundreds of trained coaches in Lagos State," Liameed stated.
On his part, the registrar of NIS, Mr. Belmond Benson who represented the Director-General of NIS, Professor Olawale Moronkola, remarked that the partnership between LSFA and the NIS, is historic, as it would set an enviable benchmark for development of football coaches across the country.
He commended the LSFA, for coming up with the special training programme initiative, adding that the NIS, would continue to strengthen its partnership with the Lagos FA, and for the benefits of football in Lagos State.
