Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has said Emre Can would be a perfect midfield addition for the Italian champions.

Juve have been long-standing admirers of Can, who is in the final year of his Liverpool contract.

The Germany international is yet to agree a new deal that would keep him at Anfield and he will be free to discuss terms with teams outside of England next month.

"Allegri's side needs another midfielder because [Sami] Khedira is known to pick up minor knocks," former Italy striker Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.

"[Claudio] Marchisio is coming back from injury, but he's still not at his best and [Miralem] Pjanic is not such a physical player.

"Emre Can of Liverpool would be ideal, and he's not even that expensive. He could be the big name for Juve in January. They need somebody like him.

"He's physically present and somebody like Emre Can would fit in very well with Pjanic and Khedira."

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said he is hopeful that Can will still sign a new contract at Anfield, while the player recently insisted he was focusing on football.

When the Liverpool Echo pressed Can about his contract situation, he said: "Why do you ask me this? Really, I concentrate on this season and let my agent handle all the rest.

"It is not about money, that's all I can say. "Yes I could [sign a pre-contract with another club next month], but tomorrow I could also sign for Liverpool. We'll see."
