Nigeria Premier League champions, Enyimba are set to boost their squad with experienced strikers ahead of its campaigns in the local and continental scene.

Technical Adviser, Kadiri Ikhana disclosed to SHOT! in an interview that the team's experience in the just concluded season was not a palatable one as the loss of some of the top strikers to injuries and illness made things difficult for him.

He said as the team prepares to defend the Nigeria Premier League title and attempt repeating its feat in 2003 and 2004 in the CAF Champions League, the club will ensure quality attackers are recruited to avoid the hitches experienced in the just concluded season.

"Last season, we had good strikers in Mfom Udoh and later Christian Obiazor , but illness and injuries were their greatest undoing in the league. We were now forced to make use of the available players to replace them and God saw us through.

"However, playing in the continent is a different ball game and with our experience in the game, we need to have more quality attackers to aid our result and this is what we are going to do," he said.

Ikhana therefore called on Abia State government to prevail on the club chairman, Chief Felix Agwu-Ayansi, not to quit as his services are very important in the running of the club's affairs.

According to Ikhana, what the club chairman need is support from all stakeholders in the state for the club to excel in its campaign both at the local and international scene.

"An astute football administrator like Felix Anyasi-Agwu should not be allowed to leave the club because of the interest of some people.

"What he has contributed to the team is enormous and I believe if he must quit he should give the state two or three years notice. This will enable someone to understudy him and continue with the good work," he explained.
