Super Eagles striker Olanrewaju Kayode is confident he will be back in the team after being left out of the squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Olanrewaju admitted that it was a tough dealing with being overlooked for the 2018 FIFA World Cup but praised the team for their efforts despite crashing out of the tournament in the group stages.

“They gave their best even if some Nigerians were not too satisfied. It was a tough group that went into the last day,” the 24 year old who joined Ukrainian top division side, Shaktar Donetsk, from Manchester City permanently this summer told CSN.

“I believe I’ll be back in the team but if you had told be I’d miss the tournament (World Cup in Russia) I’d argue. It was a great shock for me but it’s in the past now.”

Nigeria finished third in the Group D standings with three points from three games behind group winners Croatia and runners-up Argentina.

Meanwhile Kayode’s wife, Zinny, on Friday through his foundation paid a visit to Living Fountain Orphanage in Lagos to give out donations and gifts.

Zinny on behalf of her husband revealed that the gesture is part of his foundation to help the needy in Nigeria.

“Nigerians deserve to live a better life, but the government alone cannot do everything. It is left for organisations and individuals who are in a position to also help those in need,” Zinny told CSN.
