England captain Harry Kane has described his side’s 2-1 friendly win on Saturday at Wembley as a good one against a difficult Nigerian side.
Kane doubled England’s lead with a low shot which slipped past Francis Uzoho’s hands.
Gary Cahill gave England an early lead from a corner following a bright start from the home team.
But the Super Eagles bounced back in the second half thanks to Alex Iwobi who pounced on a rebound which came off the post.
“It was a good win against a tough side. In the first half I thought we were excellent,” Kane said in his post-match reaction.
“We moved the ball quickly and got in behind them and created a lot of chances.
“In the second half we had trouble when they changed their formation early on – that always puts the pressure on.
“But then we kept the ball better and got used to their formation and in the end, saw the game out well.
“I feel at my best, definitely. It’s great to score – getting on the score sheet is always nice for a striker.
“I’m looking forward to the game on Thursday. It’s another tough one and another test and then we’re looking forward to the next month or so.”
England face Costa Rica on Thursday while Nigeria play Czech Republic on Wednesday in pre-World Cup friendlies.
