Juventus' Gianluigi Buffon Backs Antonio Conte for Success at Chelsea

Published on: 15 June 2016

Juventus' "?Gianluigi Buffon believes that incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte will work wonders at the Premier League club, according to a report in the London Evening Standard.

The legendary goalkeeper knows Conte well from the pair's time together at Juve, where the 42-year-old led I Bianconeri to three successive Serie A titles.

Conte was appointed as Italy's national team head coach off the back of that success, and resumed his professional relationship with Buffon upon taking up the reigns of the Azzurri.

And the 38-year-old is of the opinion that Conte, who will join the Londoners after Euro 2016, can lead the Stamford Bridge-based side into a new era.

Buffon said: "Conte is a big coach and I'm convinced he will be an excellent one at Chelsea.

"A Conte team is strong in defence and works constantly, day to day.

"Conte is a coach with an idea very simple. For the players he makes it very clear.

"He wants to play without risk in the defensive line and to exploit the opportunities to score goals when they come. This appears easy but he always wants more. So to go where we want we need to do whatever the coach asks of us."?

Buffon also believes that Conte's outstanding man management skills will bring renewed camaraderie within the Chelsea camp.

The Italy captain added: "He is a strong character but in his personal dealings with players he is close to them, that's important for any dressing room. He always has a lot of dialogue with his players and I don't think there'll be problems."?

Buffon was part of the Italy side that beat Belgium 2-0 at Euro 2016 on Sunday evening, and is expected to keep goal once again in the upcoming clash with Sweden on Friday afternoon.
