Jose Mourinho Aims Sly 'Wind' Dig at Jurgen Klopp After Reaching EFL Cup Final

"?When the EFL Cup semi-final draw was announced, it seemed a foregone conclusion that Liverpool and Manchester United would win their respective ties and set up a mouthwatering final.

While United managed to edge past Hull City on Thursday despite losing 2-1, Liverpool could not get past a stubborn Southampton side the day before and ultimately lost the tie following two slender defeats.

Managers Jurgen Klopp and Jose Mourinho clashed on the touchline during the 1-1 Premier League draw between their sides earlier this month, and it appears their war of words has not yet ended.

Speaking to "?the Mirror, Klopp alleged the wind at Anfield made it difficult for his side to play well during the 1-0 loss against Southampton.

"I'm disappointed, there's big disappointment. It was difficult. The wind was really strange, it was difficult to handle," the former Borussia Dortmund boss said.

"I said a few times when I came here about the wind and everybody was laughing, but today was really difficult, really difficult to play football with this wind."

While United did not reach the final gracefully, losing 2-1, that didn't stop Mourinho from aiming a dig at his Liverpool counterpart, claiming his side will not be favourites due to the weather.

"Wembley will be windy, so we may struggle," Mourinho said, evidently referencing Klopp's post-match comments.

Liverpool are currently four points ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League, but Mourinho will have the chance to pick up his first piece of silverware with the Red Devils when they take on Southampton in the final of the EFL Cup in late February.
