Jordan defeat Turkey to end 2017 in style

Istanbul: Less than two weeks before the official draw for the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup, hosts Jordan came from behind to earn a 2-1 win over Turkey at the TFF National Training Centre in Istanbul on Monday.

Prolific striker Maysa Jbarah pulled the Nashmiyat level just before half-time, before Shahnaz Jebreen scored with less than 10 minutes remaining to give Jordan their second consecutive away win against UEFA opposition after their drought-breaking victory over Latvia in September.

The win takes Jordan’s international record to nine wins, one draw and five losses for the year

Less than 72 hours after they impressed in losing 2-0 to Asian champions Japan, Michael Dickey’s charges found themselves a goal down after conceding a penalty in the 38th minute, but Jbarah, who scored 13 goals in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, hit back to level the match five minutes later.

With the match seemingly headed for a draw, substitute Shahnaz Jebreen broke the deadlock in the 81st minute to seal an impressive win over the 59th ranked Turkey.

The next step in Jordan’s preparation for next year's AFC Women’s Asian Cup is a training camp in Thailand next month, with the official draw for the tournament to be held on December 9.
