Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has hailed Ghana international wing-half Jeffrey Schlupp and the rest of his team-mates for their spirited display at Liverpool in the English Premier League on New Year Day.

The Foxes had gone down 2-0 at Anfield against Liverpool but they staged a strong second-half performance to snatch a 2-2 draw to the delight of the under-pressure manager.

"I’m delighted and I think we played very well today. To go 2-0 down to two penalties really did test everybody’s resolve, I’m sure," he told Leicester City's official website.

“The players have to believe in themselves, their team-mates and their ability to win football matches. I don’t think at any point this season the players have said too many negative things.

“We’re not kidding ourselves. It’s easy to talk up positivity, but you’ve to believe it and back it up with results, and time will tell, but certainly today’s events have given me a lot of renewed faith in the players.

“Not that that’s ever been questioned, but I’ve seen a level of performance that has suggested that we are very, very capable.”

Schlupp is in the Ghana squad for the 2015 AFCON and will travel to Spain to meet the rest of the contingent for the final training session before the team leaves for Equatorial Guinea on January 2015.
