Nigeria Women's Football League champions, Bayelsa Queens have started their Women's Champions League WAFU B qualifiers with a win over Police Ladies, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Prosperity Girls edged the champions of Ghana 2-1 after goals from Shakirat Moshood and Emem Essien at Stade charles Konan Banny.
Moshood opened score after 11 minutes played following domination of early minutes of play.
Bayelsa Queens continued the push for more goals, but a 36 minutes goal line clearance and 39 minutes save from Police Ladies' goalkeeper to keep the score 1-0 at half time.
The Ghanaians tried getting back into the game with an attempt at goal, but it was Bayelsa Queens that doubled their lead on 62 minutes through Emem Essien.
Mercy Berko pulled one back five minutes later to reduce the deficit, but the Prosperity Girls held on for the win.
