Trabzonspor Submit Official Bid for Lazio Midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru
Turkish Super Lig giants Trabzonspor have submitted an official offer to Lazio for Nigerian midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, with the player once again being linked with a return to Turkey after his involvement at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Dele-Bashiru only recently returned to Rome following Nigeria’s AFCON campaign, where the Super Eagles reached the semi-finals before claiming a bronze medal. Lazio, however, is currently struggling for consistency, highlighted by their recent 3–0 home defeat to Cesc Fàbregas’s Como, and individual player situations are now under closer evaluation.
The midfielder’s spell at Lazio has been mixed. He initially joined the club on a season-long loan, which was later made permanent after an impressive start, but has since struggled to fully convince head coach Maurizio Sarri, featuring only intermittently in the starting lineup. His season was also disrupted in December when he departed for international duty with Nigeria, where he recorded one assist in three appearances at AFCON.
According to Corriere dello Sport via LazioNews, Trabzonspor’s interest is concrete, with the Turkish club submitting a financially attractive proposal. Despite this, Dele-Bashiru is reportedly not fully convinced about a return to a league he already knows, even though he previously enjoyed a productive spell with Hatayspor.
The 24-year-old is understood to be more interested in a potential move to the Premier League. Recent reports have linked him with Nottingham Forest, although no formal offer has been made, with discussions so far limited to exploratory contacts.
Lazio are believed to be open to selling Dele-Bashiru for the right price as part of a broader review of their midfield and squad structure. However, the player himself is in no rush to decide, preferring to wait and assess his options, particularly in England, before making the next move in his career.
