Suleiman Sani Credits Teamwork and Determination for Flying Eagles’ Progress to Knockout Stage
Flying Eagles winger Suleiman Sani has hailed his teammates’ determination and teamwork following Nigeria’s 1–1 draw with Colombia, which sealed their place in the round of 16 at the ongoing FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The Nigerian side showed great resilience after falling behind, with Daniel Bamayi converting a late penalty to earn a crucial point and secure qualification as one of the best third-placed teams in the group stage.
Speaking after the match, Sani expressed his delight at the team’s progress but admitted disappointment over his suspension for the next game. The energetic winger received a second yellow card in the group stage, ruling him out of Nigeria’s next fixture against six-time champions Argentina on Wednesday.
“I’m very happy that we qualified for the knockout stage,” Sani said. “Determination and teamwork helped us get the result against Colombia, and now we are through. Hopefully, we won’t struggle the way we did in the group stage. Even though I won’t be part of the team against Argentina, I trust my teammates not to disappoint.”
Sani was among Nigeria’s standout performers against Colombia, coming close to scoring when his powerful effort rattled the crossbar. The Flying Eagles will now face Argentina in what promises to be one of the most exciting clashes of the knockout phase.
