Super Eagles’ assistant coach, Salisu Yusuf has disclosed that the senior national team will maintain their impressive momentum as they seek to pick an automatic ticket and qualify for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup from their group.
The three-time Africa champions are believed to be back to their old good days as they are yet to taste defeat since the appointment of German tactician, Gernot Rohr in August 2016 and currently top group B on the road to Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup after beating Zambia 2-1 in Ndola before thrashing Algeria 3-1 in Uyo, to earn six points.
Nigeria will face Cameroon on August 28, 2017 in Uyo, in an encounter that could determine the fate of both teams considering the fact that the Indomitable Lions sit second with two points when the World Cup qualifying campaign resumes.
Salisu who has maintained a perfect relationship with Super Eagles technical adviser, since taking over in August, said that the team would continue their winning streak in 2017.
“To be frank, 2016 was a memorable year for the Super Eagles in terms of our World Cup quailfying campaign because it’s was what we wanted,” Salisu told nigeriasoccernet “What is paramount for the technical crew this year is on how the team will maintain an unbeaten run that will ultimately ensure Nigeria qualify for the 2018 World Cup,” he said.
