RB Leipzig is set to receive a major financial windfall following Ademola Lookman’s transfer from Atalanta to Atlético Madrid, with the Bundesliga club expected to earn around ?5.8 billion from the deal due to a sell-on clause, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The payout originates from the clause Leipzig negotiated when they sold the Nigerian international to Atalanta in the summer of 2022 for €9.35 million.

Atalanta have now agreed to sell Lookman to Atlético Madrid in a deal reportedly worth €40 million, activating Leipzig’s percentage entitlement and ensuring the German club benefits significantly despite the winger leaving two years ago.

The development highlights the growing market value of Lookman, whose performances in Serie A and on the international stage continue to attract top European interest.
