Nigeria’s Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, has declared that the Turkish champions are in the UEFA Champions League to make a lasting impression, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
The Nigerian international, who has been in scintillating form, has already netted three goals in his last two Champions League outings, quickly becoming a key figure in Galatasaray’s European campaign.
Speaking to UEFA.com, Osimhen expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete with Europe’s elite, revealing that both the players and management share a collective ambition to make history.
“I spoke with the president when I arrived here, and we want to really make a statement in the Champions League,” Osimhen said.
“We want to show that in Türkiye, we are the team the whole world will recognize this year because we actually did something amazing in Europe.”
Osimhen further highlighted Galatasaray’s domestic dominance and their determination to replicate that success on the continental stage.
“We’ve dominated the league for years, and we will keep on dominating it. But now, it’s time to make a statement in the most prestigious competition, the Champions League. It’s a beautiful feeling to play on that stage, and we want to show that we belong there,” he added.
Galatasaray, who have enjoyed a strong start to their European campaign, are counting on Osimhen’s leadership, energy, and lethal finishing to guide them to the knockout stages. The 25-year-old forward’s influence both on and off the pitch has already made him a fan favourite in Istanbul, with many supporters viewing him as the missing piece in their quest for continental glory.
With Osimhen spearheading the attack, Galatasaray appears determined to prove that Turkish football can once again compete at the highest level in Europe.
