The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has paid Samson Siasia all his outstanding salary but is yet to pay his assistant coaches, comprising David Ngodigha, Fatai Amoo and Monday Odigie.

Siasia and his coaching crew, performed what seemed a miracle at the last Rio Olympic Games, winning bronze in the men’s soccer event, which was the only medal won by Team Nigeria contingent at the Games.

The plights of the Siasia’s side before their trip to Brazil for the Games were well documented that even the international media, comprising CNN, BBC and Sports Illustrated highlighted how the team were being prepared for failure but against all odds, the technical crew did not allow their  problems to distract them from putting up a befitting performance as they reached the semifinals, where they lost to eventual champions, Germany.

But for all their pains and toils, the coaches, who assisted Siasia to achieve this great feat are yet to receive their outstanding salary, even when Siasia has gotten his salary.

An insider in the NFF told us last night that the Amaju Pinnick-controlled Executive Committee has paid Siasia his wages, leaving his assistants in the cold, as far as their remuneration is concerned.

We learnt that Siasia’s assistants were not happy with the development, that has left put a lot of financial stress on them, a trend that brings to the fore the man-made problems coaches face in Nigeria.
