Nasarawa United Stun Abia Warriors in Umuahia as NPFL Matchweek Delivers Drama

Nasarawa United recorded an impressive away victory in Umuahia on Sunday, edging Abia Warriors 2–1 in one of the standout results from the latest round of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) fixtures, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Abia Warriors took the lead in the 42nd minute through Emeka Obioma, but Nasarawa United responded strongly after the break. Habibu Alakija drew the visitors level just two minutes into the second half before JoFrank Istifanus completed the turnaround with a well-taken goal in the 55th minute to seal all three points.

In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors left it late to secure a narrow 1–0 home win over Ikorodu City. Muktar Ismail emerged as the hero, scoring the decisive goal in the 89th minute to hand the hosts maximum points.

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) also enjoyed a positive outing in Ibadan, claiming a 1–0 victory against Bendel Insurance. Qamar Adegoke’s 71st-minute strike proved enough to separate both sides at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

At the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Wikki Tourists returned to winning ways with a convincing 2–0 triumph over Kano Pillars. Taheer Abubakar opened the scoring in the 43rd minute before Klinshak Longbak sealed the result with a second goal in the 65th minute.

In Enugu, Rangers International were involved in a six-goal thriller as they defeated Wolves 4–2. Godwin Obaje put Rangers in command with two early goals in the 1st and 11th minutes, while Chimobi Igwilo added a brace late on in the 71st and 76th minutes. Wolves responded through Israel Oladeji and a stoppage-time penalty by Seth Mayi, but it was not enough to deny the hosts victory.

Elsewhere, Niger Tornadoes claimed a comfortable 2–0 home win over Enyimba, with goals from Abdulrasheed Shehu Dabai in the 66th minute and Rickson Mendos late in the game.

In Kano, Barau FC and Bayelsa United settled for a 1–1 draw. Ettah Ikoi gave Bayelsa United the lead in the 29th minute before Yahaya Ibrahim equalised from the penalty spot six minutes later.

The results continue to shape the NPFL standings as the race for continental places and survival intensifies across the league.
