Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has voiced his disappointment following Fulham’s away loss to Everton, admitting the team failed to meet expectations in the Premier League encounter, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
Speaking to Sporty TV, Iwobi acknowledged that Fulham were second-best for much of the game, particularly in the first half when Everton’s intensity proved decisive.
“We are disappointed; it’s not the result we wanted going into the international break,” Iwobi said. “I think during the break, we can cool off and come back even stronger. They were winning first and second balls, and of course, the second goal killed the game from a set piece. In the second half, we reacted well, but we weren’t able to get the clear-cut chances that we wanted.”
The 29-year-old, who featured in multiple roles during the match, once again showcased his tactical flexibility, a trait he credits to his formative years at Arsenal.
“It’s something I learnt at the Arsenal academy,” Iwobi explained. “I’ve grown up playing in multiple positions, which has helped my IQ and understanding of the game. Whatever position I’m told to play, I’ll give my best for the team.”
Despite the setback, Iwobi remains optimistic that Fulham will return from the international break refreshed and ready to bounce back stronger in their upcoming fixtures.
