A former Hearts of Oak board member Stephen Akwetey insists the relegation-threatened club need to augment their technical team to stay afloat.

The Phobians have been under the interim supervision of ex-Ghana goalkeeper Eddie Ansah since parting ways with Herbert Addo two weeks ago.

But results have still not improved as Hearts remain 14th on the league table with six matches to the end of the season.

Akwetey contended in an interview with the Daily Graphic in Accra yesterday that the Phobians technical bench as its was currently composed was not strong enough to withstand the turbulence that confronted the team.

He recalled a situation when the late Coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio was invited to provide technical assistance to the bench during a crucial qualifier for the 2007 CAF Champions League.

“It worked and we secured qualification to play in the money zone. At this stage in the club’s history Hearts needs all hands on deck”, he added.

Hearts of Oak’s slide has seen some past executives including Harry Zakkour, Nii Ayi Bonte II, , Isaac Tetteh(aka T.T Brothers), Alhaji Hearts and Ernest Quarshie join forces in a bid to salvage the club.
