Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has thrown his hat into the ring for the position of head coach at Zamalek Football Club of Egypt.

Amuneke spent time with Zamalek during his playing days winning two Egyptian league titles.

It seems the former Golden Eaglets head coach wants to return to Egypt and continue his romance with the former Caf Champions League winners.

Zamalek are reportedly on the lookout for a new coach after the disappointing 0-2 home loss to bitter rivals Al Ahly in the Egyptian league last week.

Zamalek president Mortada Mansour has confirmed that Amuneke is one of the several coaches who has applied for the Zamalek job.

Amuneke, who holds a European coaching badge, led Nigeria’s Under-17 national side to win the Fifa 2015 Under-17 World Cup in Chile.

He was also an assistant to Samson Siasia during the double-header against Egypt during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Amuneke played 27 times for Nigeria, scoring nine goals.
