Ikpea says Super Eagles qualification confirms Nigeria’s supremacy in Africa

Sam Ikpea, Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has described the Super Eagles 1-0 victory against the Chipolopolo of Zambia as a proof that Nigeria is the giant of Africa.

Ikpea said this on Saturday in Lagos in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) while reacting to the team’s qualification for next year’s World Cup in Russia,.

NAN reports that Alex Iwobi scored Nigeria’s only goal in the 74th minute of the match to make Nigeria the first Africa country that booked a spot in the mundial.

“The boys are wonderful, I am particularly impressed with them because they have confirmedm by the virtue of the qualifiers, that they are indeed number one in Africa. “They played with every commitment and gave their best all through the qualifiers’ and today God crowned their efforts with victory which is a big achievement to the country at large.

“I have no doubt that fans in the country and diaspora are over excited because the win has confirmed our participation in the FIFA World Cup in Russia 2018. “The joy of everything is that the boys exhibited a patriotic spirit because the Zambian team actually came to win but ours had the upper hand,” he said.

He applauded the playets for their team spirit and the coaching crew for a good team selection, which according to him earned them the victory of the matches. NAN reports that Super Eagles of Nigeria in the group B have a total of 13 points from six matches to qualify for the tournament. (NAN)
