Iceland Coach: Super Eagles Are Desperate, They Know They Have To Beat Us

Iceland head coach Heimir Hallgrimsson says he expects the Super Eagles of Nigeria to come out firing in their Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup Group D game against his side on Friday in Volgograd.

Nigeria lost 2-0 to Croatia in their opening game and must beat Iceland to have any chance of advancing to the next round.

Hallgrimsson’s men kicked off their FIFA World Cup campaign by holding Argentina to a 1-1 draw and he admits that the game against Nigeria will be a proper battle.

“This is a must-win game for Nigeria, and that makes it a little bit psychologically different, they have to win,” Hallgrimsson told reporters in his pre-match interview.

“This group is going to be decided in the last minutes, in the last game.

“It’s going to be down to some margins, a set piece, a goal in extra time. This is how this group is going to be played.”

Iceland are currently joint-second with Argentina in Group D and will be out to avoid defeat to make history by reaching the round of 16 on their World Cup debut.
